If you have found a stray animal, please call our office and we will have the animal picked up by an Animal Control Officer. If you are interested in adopting a specific animal, please be sure to know the animal’s ID number as that helps our staff determine which animal you would like to meet. Animal ID NumbersĮach animal in our shelter is assigned a six-digit ID number. Please keep in mind that new animals come into the shelter each day, and some are reunited with their owners, so we have a wide variety of breeds, ages, and energy levels. ![]() Find AnimalsĪnimals available for adoption may be found at the Animal Shelter website or on our Facebook page, Jefferson County Animal Control, Missouri. Because of this, not all pets will be able to go home with their adopter on the day of adoption, but generally are in their new home within two to three business days of adoption. ![]() In accordance with state laws, all animals adopted from our facility must be spayed or neutered before being released to the new owners. The adoption process takes approximately twenty minutes and consists of meeting the animal, filling out and going over the Adoption Application, and working with the Rescue Coordinator to schedule any needed vetting. We also require any individual interested in adopting an animal to meet the animal in person, preferably with any other animals currently in the home, to be sure that the animal is the best fit for the new home. In order to adopt an animal from Jefferson County Animal Control, you must be at least eighteen years of age. ![]()
